How to communicate hazards

How to communicate hazards

Labels communicating a hazard should be attached to:

  • Regulated waste containers
  • Contaminated re-usable sharp containers
  • Containers with blood or other potentially infectious materials (OPIM)
  • Contaminated equipment that’s transported, maintained, or repaired
  • Storage containers with contaminated laundry

Red containers or bags can also be used instead of labels. Some facilities require signs to be present at all doors where OPIM or infected living beings are present.
