First Aid Care for an Asthma Attack

  • Help the person to follow their asthma action plan if they have one.
  • Encourage the person to use their prescribed quick-relief medication. Assist them if needed.
  • Call 911 or the designated emergency number if their breathing does not improve.
  • Stay with the person and monitor their condition until they can breathe normally or help arrives.
